Colonization Dates & Updates

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

What follows is an Email from Aiden Mette, Lambda Chi Alpha-Educational Learning Consultant…
I know this is late notice but it looks like the Associate Member ceremony on Sunday and the tentative Brotherhood event on Friday are going to have to be postponed.
Due to a lot of different factors we just dont have the numbers to make this work so early on. Also I know we have received several names from the alumni base and I encourage anyone that has names to get them to us immediately. Thanks again for all the work you’ve done and if you have any questions please contact me.

Aiden Mette, ELC

This information just came to us from the Lambda Chi Alpha recruiters in Whitewater. What follows is an email from the recruiters on campus.
Tonight (Sunday9/21) we gave out our first bid to Corey Hart, a 21 year old freshman who is a US Marine. Very excited to have him on board as he is a very mature and stable student. [We] have several other prospects on the list that we hope to lock in within the first two days.

Tomorrow (Monday 9/22) we have an activities fair from 4:30 to 6:15 on campus. If anyone is in the area (again, sorry for the extremely late notice), we would more than love to have them, otherwise Matt [Roy] and I can handle it. But we’ll have a table and be distributing information.

Friday (9/26) I hope to have a good group of guys and do a quick Brotherhood event for them. I was thinking early evening so they can get on and do what they want during the night. I would love to have alumni at this because I want to get them introduced right away. It would be a sort of welcome activity, go over the Coat of Arms and Creed, a little Ritualistic. But I was thinking we could do this out the house, so they also get an introduction to where they could live!

Sunday (9/28), I just put in the room request, we plan on hosting our first Associate Member Ceremony. And Alumni support would be more than appreciated. We are hoping to have our recent colony at Lake Forest perform it for them to create some great interaction. But that would be 12 pm [noon] hopefully in the Old Main Ballroom of the University Center.

Those are the primary dates so far, with more to come. Something else on the radar is October 11th we are hosting a True Leader Summit at Elmhurst College during the day. Free leadership training will be available to the undergrads and we plan on inviting Whitewater and Lake Forest, and if Alumni would be willing to go in support we would love to have you.

Chi Delta Rho badge

Friday, September 19th, 2008

What a great day! I have acquired a Chi Delta Rho badge from a private collector in Florida (many thanks to Mr. Banter for his generous trade! and to Brother Jono Hren for finding the collector & facilitating the trade).

This badge is an un-jeweled Chi Delta Rho badge from the Gamma Chapter at Milton College.

It’s shaping up to be a great weekend!

Alumni Association Meeting: Tuesday Sept. 16

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Brother Martin HokeGood Afternoon!

The meeting is definitely on for Tuesday, 9/16 at 7:00 PM. I have had several requests to have the meeting in Whitewater, so that is where we will meet. We will meet at the old Huddle (the place a couple doors west of the Brass Rail). I know they have tables in the back that we could sit around.

As a reminder, we will be discussing the following topics:

* Need to have elections for Alumni Association – The election will be for all positions – President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
* Need to discuss Internationals coming to Whitewater to recruit. They are arriving on 9/21 and plan to have the Associate Member Ceremony on 9/30. They also plan to stay in the house.
* Need to discuss ideas for Homecoming. Homecoming is October 25th.
* Need to discuss a fund-raising event or at least an organized effort to solicit donations.
* Need to make sure everyone understands the need for mentors and the fact that we need to share the responsibility of helping the colony in it’s early stages and beyond. It looks like Don has done a good job in filling some mentor spots, but we still need a few more.

We need as many people to attend this meeting as possible. This will be one of the most important meetings we have had to date as we prepare for Lambda Chi’s return to Whitewater, so please make every effort to be at the meeting.

See you on Tuesday,

Marty Hoke
Alumni Association President

Officer Mentors

Friday, September 12th, 2008

It is our intention to establish an Alumni mentor program. This program will not only establish a stronger bond between the undergraduate members but also provide the additional oversight required to keep the chapter growing in the right direction.

As you can see – one spot is open and many are filled by current officers with other responsibilities. It is our desire to eliminate this overlap and have as many brothers as possible to get involved in our recolonization. This approach will not only eliminate burnout but will also provide a greater experience for all. Please contact me directly if you are willing to fill in an open assignment or are willing to assist one of the officer mentors

UWWLCA on Twitter

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

In an effort to keep UW-Whitewater Lambda Chi alumni up to speed on things happening within our Fraternity and with our brothers, we are constantly searching for new ways to connect with you. Our most recent decision was to join one of the latest crazes in social networking, “Twitter.”

Not only is this free service a social-networking tool, but it is also a micro-blogging site. Users can publish short messages, called “tweets,” to update “followers” as to what is going on in their world. Followers (you) can alter your Twitter settings to send a text message directly to your cellphone whenever somebody sends you a message (@yourname) or somebody you’re following “tweets” new information.

For instance, if there is a Housing Corps meeting coming up, we here at will tweet that information on When you log in to your Twitter account, you will see that information on your home page. If you have your account set up to notify you of our tweets, you will also receive that message via text or e-mail.

Another example: Let’s say you and a group of alumni brothers want to get together for a beer in Madison. Tweet the details on your Twitter account with @uwwlca somewhere in that message. The information will be posted for everybody to see when they come to the UWWLCA Twitter page (as well as on their own accounts if they are following you).

The system is extremely versatile, customizable, addicting, and it’s FREE.

If you are a Twitter account holder, already, please follow us by going to It is a great central location for brothers to come together and keep up to speed on each other’s lives and the Fraternity itself.

If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me:
