From Brother Marty Hoke, President of the Alumni Association:

Re: Lambda Chi Alpha Recolonization
Associate Director of Chapter Services Jarod Holt from Lambda Chi Alpha HQ is looking at two possible weekends to come to Wisconsin.  He and Director of Chapter Services John Holloway are in the process of scheduling the trip.  The weekends they are currently look at are: 8/31 – 9/2 or 9/7 – 9/9.  This is just preliminary and we will only get a portion of their visit dedicated to Whitewater (as their trip will be to visit several campuses along the way), but it is a start.  Jarod said they are definitely coming to visit with us in Wisconsin, he is trying to work around the schedules of 10 people and will follow-up as soon as possible.

Re: UW-W expands their Greek Life Office
A staff opening at the University has allowed the office to shift responsibilities around for several staff and dedicate for the next year more staff time to the Greek Community (50% FTE).  During this next year, the Career & Leadership Development office will take the NIC report recommendations into consideration and develop an overall Greek Life plan and staffing model that will best serve the office and Greek Life. They will then have a national search for the person that will be in part Greek Life focused.

For the coming year the C&LD office has hired Stephanie Hewitt to serve as the primary Greek Life contact for the office.  This will mean working directly with the 3 councils, administrative functions and chapter presidents.   Stephanie comes with the experience of being a valuable employee for a major corporation, UW-W student, leader and member of the Greek family.  She will also be working with the Homecoming Steering Committee and Leadership conferences.

Any questions can be asked here and I will forward them to Jan Bilgen, Associate Director of the Career & Leadership Development office, UW-Whitewater.

Recolonizing Fundraiser

Friday, June 15th, 2007

DonationsI am pleased to announce that the Alumni Association is having a fundraiser to support the efforts of Recolonizing Lambda Chi Alpha on the Whitewater campus! From today, June 15th through July 15th, donations made to the Alumni Association through this website will be used in the Recolonization process and to support the Alumni Association. We have assembled a team to prepare a website, print, radio and tv materials for use in Whitewater to aid Recolonizing and get Lambda Chi’s name back on campus.

Donating is easier than ever with the new PayPal system we have set up. Click the “Make a Donation” button on the top-right side of this page. Track our Fundaising donations with the Lambda Chi Thermometer…and keep your eyes peeled to the Donor List page that lives on this site. (You can also access the Donor List through the link on the right navigation, as well).

Our goal is $1,000. Please give whatever you can. Even $10 will add fuel to our efforts of bringing Lambda Chi back to Whitewater!

On behalf of Martin Hoke (President of the Alumni Association) and all future Brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha in Whitewater, we thank you for your donations!

Business Meeting & Recolonization Summit

Friday, May 25th, 2007

Below is a letter from Paula Mohan regarding the next business meeting and recolonization efforts:

Hi everyone,
We’d like to hold another business meeting on tuesday, june 5th, at 7;00 pm in Whitewater to discuss the recolonization process, to catch up on the latest news, and to plan for a general meeting in August between alumni, university officials, and representatives from Internationals. We’ll be meeting in 2013 Winther Hall. Winther is located on Prairie Street and parking is free in lot 14- (accessible from both Starin Rd and Prairie Street)- after 6:00 pm. (See map for details: Because there is a lot of construction taking place on campus, Starin Rd will be closed periodically, so be prepared for that possibility if you come in that way).

A letter from our Faculty Advisor

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

Hi. For those who didn’t know me while a student, my name is Paula Mohan, I teach in the Political Science department, and I have served as faculty advisor for the fraternity for the last several years.

I thought I would briefly mention some of the initiatives that the alumni have begun during the suspension to build a better relationship with the university and to also discuss some actions that the university is taking that might have an impact on greek relations in the future.
